Privacy Policy

What we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. Here's what we gather and why:

Analytics — We run Umami for site analytics. It's privacy-focused, doesn't use cookies, and doesn't collect personal data. All we see is aggregate numbers: page views, what country you're roughly in, which browser you use, how you found us.

Form submissions — If you reach out through our contact or advertising forms, we keep what you send us (name, email, message) so we can reply. That's it.

Accounts — Editorial contributors have login accounts. We store your email and display name for login and to credit your work.

Cookies and advertising

Google AdSense — We show ads through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on sites you've visited before, which means you may see ads related to your browsing history.

If you'd rather not see personalised ads, you can opt out at Google Ads Settings or through the Network Advertising Initiative.

Essential cookies — If you log in to an editorial account, we set a session cookie to keep you signed in. No tracking, no advertising. Just login functionality.

What we do with it

Short version:

• Keep the site running and make it better

• Reply to your messages

• Show ads through Google AdSense

• See which pages get read (in aggregate, not individually)

• Manage editor accounts and content

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone except as described above.

Third-party services

These third-party services handle some data on our behalf:

Google AdSense — Ad serving and personalisation. Google Privacy Policy

Umami Analytics — Privacy-focused, self-hosted web analytics. No personal data collected.

Supabase — Database hosting for platform data. Supabase Privacy Policy

How long we keep things

Analytics data stays around indefinitely in aggregate form — there's nothing personal in it. Contact form messages are kept for up to 12 months, then cleared. Account data lasts as long as your account does. Ask us to delete it and we will.

Your rights

You can:

• Ask what data we have on you

• Get it corrected if it's wrong

• Ask us to delete it

• Turn off ad personalisation (see above)

Just email contact@dronesofwar.net.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of the page. If you keep using the site after a change, that counts as acceptance.
